To our valued customers,
At Booth’s Logistics, sustainability has always been an important driver in how we do business, and having one of the most sustainable fleets in the country is a title we’re proud to hold. With this in mind, I wanted to provide an update on several sustainable initiatives that we are implementing across our business and fleet.
Toitū Carbon Reduce Certification
Booth’s Logistics is proud to announce our membership in the Toitū Carbon Reduction programme. This initiative works to accurately measure our greenhouse gas emissions and implement strategies to manage and reduce our environmental impact. Along with this, we will also be independently certified in accordance with ISO 14064-1 and ISO 14067, which gives our customers reassurance that we’re walking the walk when it comes to having one of the most sustainable fleets in New Zealand.
Recent Sustainability Deliverables:
- The integration of Bridgestone’s Ecopia tyres into our fleet has shown promising results. Initial indications suggest a 7-9% increase in mileage compared to conventional tyres, which is significantly contributing to reducing our carbon footprint.
- Full replacement of the Summerland Express Limited fleet with Scania Euro 6 and other modern vehicles, with all vehicles ordered and nearing delivery completion.
- Our current TMS (Transport Management System) incorporates a CO2 emission calculator allows us to allocate and report CO2 per unit of freight transported, including CO2 per container and CO2 per tonne per KM.
Hydrogen Fuel Update
We have spent a considerable amount of time actively exploring options for heavy transport alternative fuels. While this has been a challenging initiative to bring to the market, our commitment to sustainable and innovative solutions remains strong. We still have confidence in the technology of alternative fuel and will be working to bring hydrogen or hybrid powered trucks into the fleet once we have found a viable option.
Thanks again for choosing to partner with Booth’s Logistics.
